Mennock Pass, Drumlanrig Castle then Dumfries with Teuchter on a Bike

Part two of my latest ride with Ron, better known as Teuchter on a Bike on YouTube. After a great first leg over the Dalveen Pass, this section took us through more of Dumfries and Galloway’s best scenery — from Abington to Dumfries via the Mennock Pass and Drumlanrig Castle.

The pass itself was fantastic – sweeping bends, open views, and that perfect mix of flowing road and Scottish scenery that makes you glad to be out on two wheels. Ron was once again riding at my pace, making the whole ride relaxed and enjoyable.

Our next stop was Drumlanrig Castle. You can’t help but be impressed when it comes into view. It’s a stunning building with real presence, and we paused there for a breather before moving on. Definitely worth a visit if you’ve never been.

After leaving the castle, we managed to take a wrong turn and ended up winding our way up a few narrow lanes before realising and turning back. Not exactly part of the plan, but it added a bit of adventure to the day and a few laughs along the way.

From there, we made our way into Dumfries. By this point, it was more about winding down after a day of riding, enjoying the company, and reflecting on what had been another great leg of the journey.

Glorious scenery, some beautiful stops along the way, and great company with Ron – exactly what makes a Sunday ride so enjoyable.

Route
